Also, if you're heading out to Target, be sure to stop by the end cap near the scrapbook stuff. On Monday, I spotted some really great plastic storage containers on clearance. They're the slim ones that look like those clipboards with storage inside. I don't know how to describe them other than that, but they had 3 sizes. The biggest was for 12 x 12 pages. They had them in blue and pink and were under $10 for the set. If I had room in my scrapbook armoire, I would have bought every last one they had. :o)

Now, I won't say that this product will revolutionize your scrapping, but I will say that you MUST watch the demo video ASAP.

Pioneer has come up with a way to replace those (sometimes) annoying posts in post bound albums. I don't know about you, but whenever I need to add pages to my post bound albums (which is pretty much ALL of my albums), I almost never have the right size. And without having a craft store in my town (yes, pity me...every time I see a new building going up, I PRAY for a Hobby Lobby!), finding the right sized posts at Walmart isn't likely.

I know I am *supposed* to stay on topic here and ONLY talk scrapbooking, but I just can't help myself this time.

Although I will mention that I am anxiously awaiting my first photo book from Artscow.com My poor baby does have her own scrapbook album yet. I've gotten so far behind with everyone else that hers is going to be a digi-album, printed out. I had SO much fun playing with all her photos, but anyway...

BIG big BIG big news!

I could hardly contain myself tonight as I shopped in our local Target. I walked past their scrapbook aisle and all I could see were those little red clearance tags. They were calling me...

So I walked down the aisle and, while at first glance I thought EVERYTHING was on clearance, it's not all their stock, but it sure is a bigger chunk than I've ever seen. Everything from their albums (in all sizes) to stickers (even those fancy paper-pieced ones), papers, page kits, card making supplies...

If I didn't have all 4 kids and a baby belly about to burst and ankles as swollen as my belly, I probably could have spent a good hour pouring over everything. SO...head on over to your local Target. I must admit that I am not a big Valentine's person. My husband calls it a "Hallmark" holiday because he doesn't see the value in it. Amazing digi-scrap website

I was surfing and checking out other scrapbook related blog the other day and found a link to Scrapblog.com

I didn't check it right away because I didn't have time, so I took a few minutes this morning to check it out.

And it's AWESOME!!

It reminds me of some PAID digital software programs I've bought in the past, but this one is FREE.

It's all hosted online, so if you have dial up internet, this will not work well for you. It's got lots of features that take a while to load. In fact, we don't have DSL or cable internet, but I use my Alltel cell phone to connect to the internet and the process to upload what I made was taking too long to publish and share it with you right now.

But, if you do have high speed internet, it would be wonderful. I played around with a couple pages and changed everything from the background to the stickers to the fonts and even added music to my slide show.

So, check out Scrapblog.com It's really a great free service. I'm actually thinking about using it for our digital Christmas cards this year!

November Greetings to You!

Fall weather has FINALLY reached North Carolina to stay for a while. And everyone's been putting out all the Christmas display items in the stores. I feel like I blinked and August is gone!

Life was busy at our home...meetings, birthdays, conferences...I'm looking forward to a BIG slow down for this month!

Well, what a way to start the slow down than with Labor Day!

The kids are going back to school and life is starting to look a little like "normal" again.

At an event I went to last weekend, I got to take a look at a Photobook by Photoworks. It was 2 actually, but I was SO impressed. The binding was high quality and the pages were think and the photos looked great.

A long weekend without end

I hope you had a good time this weekend with National Scrapbook Day. My home was filled (actually overflowing) with children, candy, crafts, pinata, strawberries...

And then, right about supper time, it hit. The worst cold I have had in a LONG time. I am still sick and couldn't even talk today.

I had to resort to whistling so everyone else in the house knew I was calling them. I felt a little like Capt. Von Trapp in the Sounds of Music, but without the brass whistle.

Anyway, since I didn't get to scrap this weekend, please share your fun with me in the comments. I think they will make me feel better.

Getting Ready...National Scrapbook Day is SATURDAY!

This has happened to me every year since 2003. National Scrapbooking Day sneaks up on me and I already have plans!

You see, in 2003, my precious "Angel Face" was born on May 1st. Ever since then, the first Saturday in May has been birthday party day. And I am thinking it will continue to be that way for another 15 years or so to come!

I am hoping you will celebrate Scrapbook Day without me. Can I send you some photos to scrap for me while I try to keep a bunch of 4 year olds from knocking each other senseless as they try to break a pinata? Pretty please? :o)

One Month Scrapbooks

There are so many creative ways to scrapbook, I can hardly keep up.

Create a One Month Scrapbook

Create a One Month Scrapbook by Audrey Okaneko
Creating a one month scrapbook is like creating the story of your life at any given time in life.

Choose a month for your scrapbook. Now make it a point to take 5 photos every day of that month. At the end of the month, you’ll have 150 photos to sort through to tell the story of your life.

Take photos of the activities you do on a regular basis. For example, I leave my house every day at 7:20 a.m. to take my daughter to school. So, I took a series of photos around this one activity. I took a photo of the clock reading 7:20 a.m. I took a photo of my daughter sitting in the car. I took a photo of the front of the school, and then I took a photo of the clock when I got home at 7:40 a.m.

At the grocery store, I took a photo of the empty cart. I took a few photos of food aisles. I took a photo of folks waiting in line. I took a photo of my full cart, and I took a photo of the groceries in my trunk.

For those who work outside of the home, take a photo of the clock when you arrive. Take a few photos of co-workers. Take a photo of your desk. Take a photo of the clock when you leave.

If you keep a small notebook with you, you can jot down notes for journaling once you begin to put the scrapbook together.

There are several choices for putting together your album. You can create 30 or 31 pages, with each page showing the highlights from that one day. You can create a scrapbook with title pages of “Week One”, “Week Two” etc and then create pages within that week that show your typical week. Or you can create a scrapbook titled “January”, or “June” and put photos in, in no particular order, showing what your month was like.

One month scrapbooks are both fun to prepare for and also fun to put together.

Can someone say, "BRRRRRRRRR!"

Here in Eastern NC, we had a VERY chilly Easter. My husband's grandmother remarked that it was colder for Easter than it was for Christmas and I don't think she was exaggerating! My mother-in-law bought beautiful matching dresses for our girls and they all had to cover them up in sweaters and jackets just to keep from turning into Popsicles Sunday morning! I was tempted to get on I-95 and head south to FL to be warm!

Well, I got to thinking this morning about what to get my mom for mother's day. She's SO hard to shop for and keeps saying she wants photos of the children, but it is almost impossible to get all 4 looking the same direction and smiling at the instant I click the shutter button on the camera!

When I do finally get "that" photo, I am going to use this awesome coupon I got from Photoworks to get 10% off my entire order. Oh, and if you use this link you can use it too! Mother's day is about a month away and I know that if I don't do something now, I'll be spending WAY too much on flowers to send her at the last minute...not that I've ever done THAT before. No...not ME! :o)

One good "side effect" of uploading your photos to someplace like Photoworks is that you have another copy of them somewhere. Remember I told you about the lightning strike we had back in October where I lost about 6 months of photos (actually more if you count some of the photos I had migrated from our older computer)? Well, because I had used Photoworks before the strike, I had copies of some of the photos in my album on their site and didn't lose them. WHEW!

Well, that's it for today. No question of the week for this week...my brain is still frozen from this weekend! :o)

I'm trying to get back on track by sending out a newsletter in the middle of the week instead of the end. And since it is "hump day", I thought I would post something funny I stumbled upon.

If you have been on my newsletter list for a while, you'll know that I LOVE ebay. In fact, I've been on ebay since 1998 and am doing more and more with it every month.

ebay is an amazing place to find some awesome deals for scrapbooking. I know that I love shopping for my scrapbook supplies, but when there is something specific that I am looking for, it is SO much easier to search on ebay than to try to find "hunting" themed stickers at Hobby Lobby. Believe me, I tried and it took FOREVER. Probably had something to do with having 4 little ones with me, but that's another story!

Alright...I'm proving that I am indeed human today. I sent off my newsletter that I usually compose HERE first, but I didn't and now I can't figure out how to get it back! UGH!

Is Spring REALLY Coming??

I don't know about you, but it seems like this winter was TOO long! I was talking to a friend on the phone yesterday about this and it really seems to take it's toll when the weather is cold...and I only live in North Carolina! I can't imagine what it's like in the other parts of the country (or world) that are REALLY cold. Now I know why everyone wants to go to Florida in the winter! Count me IN!

In fact, I just got back from a great trip to visit my parents. No one got on anyone else's nerves...which is a first, I think. With 4 little ones, it can be hard, but it was a nice visit.

I picked up a neat scrapbook kit with 3 mini albums that I plan to make for 2 friends I saw from High School. We hadn't all been together in almost 10 years and had not seen each other's children. 10 years and 10 kids later... it was a blast.

Why scrapbook?

I know we have our "canned" responses when family members ask what the deal is with the 47 colorful "photo albums" we have on our coffee tables or when someone tries to use one of our Zig markers for writing out a shopping list, for Pete's sake!

But, really, why do you scrapbook? Not only is it my question of the week (bet you thought I wasn't doing those anymore, eh?), but it's also my challenge to you.

Almost every time I send out a newsletter, I get a person who wants to unsubscribe. It's a little sad, but I know what it's like to get a bunch of email and sometimes, even the best newsletters are just too much and I unsubscribe just to keep my inbox clean!

Last week was no exception. I got an unsubscribe request, but it was not the usual. It was from a subscriber's husband. He wrote me to request that he remove his wife's email from my list because she died in November.

Wow.

I didn't know her personally, but it really made me sad for him and his family. Imagine having not only to go through a loved one's personal belongings, but having to go through their email...people sending notes or newsletters totally not knowing that the recipient passed away.

It made me take a look at the emails I send out to my friends and hope I communicate how much I love and care for them.

Then it made me think about how grateful her husband must be that one of her hobbies was scrapbooking. He and their children (if they have any) now have a physical reminder of her. Her thoughts, her creativity, her handwriting...all in a neat little package we call a scrapbook.

I know I always like to think about my grandkids snuggling up with me on a couch someday asking to see photos of their mommy (not daddy because we have all girls!) when she was little. I just never really thought about them looking at them without me because I was no longer here to share it with them.

So here is my challenge to you and to me.

Make your scrapbooks count. Make them "you" in book form. Make them a snapshot of your personality, your thoughts, your dreams so others will know who you are even if you never meet.

This little email that was only 1 sentence may have changed my life. I am going to attempt to do an album about me. I used to think these were selfish type albums, and maybe they are in a sense because if I were to leave this earth for Heaven tomorrow, I want MY girls to know who I was, what I loved, what I didn't and most of all, how much I love them.

Let me know your thoughts on this by posting a comment below. But most of all, PLEASE share this with someone you know who also scrapbooks. Let this mourning husband's email to be removed from my mailing list be the catalyst that gets us all scrapbooking the legacy that is our lives.

Better yet, have them go to my website, Barefoot Memories, or my Squidoo lens to sign up for my newsletter. It might just be what they need to get motivated to scrap their photos and make their legacy book for their families.

Lookie lookie Neat Scrapbook -ie

I must be on a roll this week with really neat goodies for FREE.

I really stumbled on this next one by accident. I was on this gal's website, well, blog really that a friend told me about. Very pretty, but not much about scrapbooking.

Anyway, she had this neat little tool on her site that creates a virtual slide show with photos, but in a way I have never seen done before.

Digital Photo resizer

If you're like me, I hate resizing photos. It is a huge pain to go into Photoshop Elements and edit the size of digital photos. Actually, the resizing isn't the problem...the program just takes FOREVER to open and I like instant access! :o)

Well, I had someone on a yahoo group (don't you LOVE those?) tell me about a photo resizer that you can download and keep on your computer that will quickly reduce the size of your photos. I was so excited about this that I haven't even tried it out yet!

Chipboard and Scrapbooking By: FYDawn
What exactly is chipboard? Chipboard is a cardboard-like material. It is thinner than most cardboard and thicker than cardstock. Not all chipboard is acid-free and thus safe for scrapbooks. Check the packaging and/or test with a ph testing pen. Chipboard sold for the purpose of scrapbooking embellishments are more than likely acid-free.

Where can I find chipboard? Chipboard can be found in a variety of places. The backing of a pad of paper is chipboard. Often scrapbook paper comes packaged with a sheet of chipboard for stability. Chipboard can be purchased by the sheet in some arts and crafts supply stores. And finally, chipboard is available as shapes and alphabets by various scrapbook manufacturers.

Why would I want to use chipboard in my layouts? You mean besides it being one of the hottest trends in scrapbooking? Chipboard is light-weight, inexpensive and very versatile. There are so many uses and possibilities with chipboard that you are only limited by your imagination. Let’s explore a few creative possibilities…

The easiest is purchasing pre-made chipboard pieces already embellished and ready to go! Simply adhere to your layout. But if you want to create your own custom chipboard pieces, let’s see what we can do. Let’s start with a shape that comes ready to embellish. Here a few ideas on how to embellish this chipboard piece.

- Paint them.
You can use any acrylic paint. Paint made especially for scrapbooking is a little thicker, which may be better for chipboard. Sand the edges for a finished look.

- Cover with patterned paper.
Simply trace, cut and adhere. Recommended for adhering paper to chipboard include xyron, spray adhesive, hermafix, scrappy glue and modge podge. Sanding or inking the edges provide a finished look.
(This is what I used to make some cute wall decor for my girls' rooms. They were super sized and VERY cute! Check out the photos:

- Embellish with stickers, flowers, glitter and other embellishments.

You can create your own shapes and alphabets with chipboard sheets.

- Some die cut machines like Sizzix and Quick Kutz will cut through the chipboard.

- You can also use decorative punches with chipboard.

- And finally, hand cut your desired shape.

Once you have your shape/alphabet cut or punched, then cover and embellish as mentioned above. Have fun with this versatile technique!

Yes, I told you I had too much excess scrapbook stuff! I have put MORE stuff up on eBay and let me tell you...if you won an auction of mine last week, you got a STEAL of a deal. Most of my items sold for a measly $1.30 or even $0.99!! Even a custom pre-made 6x6 scrapbook albums sold for only $0.99!! It was painful, but that's the "fun" of eBay. You just never know how much your stuff will sell for. I even had a buyer from the Netherlands! How cool is that!

Well, my question of the week has to do with great deals on scrapbook supplies. I want to hear your best stories. Once, when we lived in Corpus Christi, TX, a local Christian bookstore had been bought out by a big chain and was selling a TON of scrapbook supplies at 75% off. I got 3 albums, lots of alphabet stickers, pens, papers, glue and too much other stuff for about $50.

Then, when we lived in Georgia, the local scrapbook store was closing because the owner had terminal cancer. It was a very sad story, but I did my part to help her sell off her inventory. I think I ended up going to the store 3 times before it closed and got chalks, albums (yes, I had a thing for albums...did you see my auctions??), paper, card stock, eyelets, fibers, brads and more. I don't even remember what I spent, but it was WAY more than I had intended.

Isn't that what sale shopping is about? :o)

I look forward to your replies. Remember, if you win an auction of mine, let me know you are on my mailing list and I'll send a few goodies. Oh, and the fibers I have for sale are my daughter's. She is trying to save up some $$ to buy some clothes for her American Girl doll. She spent all her money on the doll and now she wants clothes for her! I'd appreciate you helping her if you need any fibers. She's in charge of cutting, packing and addressing her orders. It will be a great learning experience for her!

She's at it again!

Yes, I've been at it again...cleaning out my scrapbook closet, that is! One of my resolutions/goals this year is to simplify life. Get rid of stuff and commitments I don't need and keep or even add what I do need.
You know we all have stuff we hold on to for "some day" and more often than not, "some day" never does come.

For instance, I thought, "Some day I will sit down and make a bunch of 6 x 6 mini scrapbooks." I also thought, "Some day I will use the 12 x 12 albums that are just sitting on my shelf." And then I also thought, "Some day I will actually get rid of all this stuff I don't use!"

Well, the last "some day" came on Sunday and I listed a bunch of stuff on eBay for $0.99. Yep, not even $1 for this stuff I have to get out of my house and out of my life!

Clutter, even fun scrapbook clutter, can really stress me out sometimes. I almost look at my scrapbook armoire and wonder if I really do need all this. I did say "almost!"

So, my question of the week ties in to my eBay auctions. "What kind of scrapbook stuff are YOU holding on to for 'some day'?"

Scrapbooking and the holidays

Now that Christmas is just 10 days away, are you even thinking about scrapbooking? I've been purging a bunch of supplies that I have had in storage for over a year and have final come to grips that I just am not going to use them!

I went through a phase of collecting a bunch of mini albums for "some day"... I actually have only made one mini album that wasn't for my scrapbook business. It was a gift for my mother in law to keep photos of all her foster children in. Turned out great, but I just don't do many themed albums like that. So...I'm getting rid of all my mini albums.

That's going to be my question of the week. What is something scrapbook related that you've held on to for "some day" that you really should get rid of?

On a shopping note, I stumbled upon this awesome site that gets you a bunch of discounts for other scrapbook sites. It only costs $37 and you get $100's of scrapbook goodies! Check it out.

Now, if you've been shopping for a Cricut, I saw them at my local Wal-mart for $179. Not bad compared to what I've seen them going for at Michael's. Plus they have the tote, cartridges and lots of other goodies. Might be worth giving Santa a little hint to head to Wally World before the 25th!

Another thing I spotted there was the rolling tote I use for my own scrapbook supplies. It's a Stanley tool chest on wheels and, if I remember correctly, it was priced around $22.00!! Yes, that's just $22, not $220!!! It's black and yellow and was actually part of one of those center of the aisle displays at our Walmart. I must say that for the price, you really can't beat it. After all, it's built for men and their tools, so it can take a beating. Take it back to the craft dept. to see how 12 x 12 papers WILL fit in the bottom. It's got lots of storage and your husband or boyfriend won't feel weird buying it for you. Plus it will leave more $$ in his Christmas budget to fill it up with other scrapbooking goodies!

...to Santa, what would you ask him to give you for Christmas?

Yep, back to starting off with the "Question of the Week!" again. I can hardly believe how the marketing for Christmas has already been coming so hard! Didn't we just have Labor Day and Back to School???

Of course, I'd love to know what your answers are that are scrapbook related, but really anything goes.

Our family recently put together some "dreams" that we'd like to accomplish in our lifetimes. One of those is a 15 x 15 scrapbook room with plenty of work space along the walls and TONS of storage.

One of my non-scrap related wishes is a REAL vacation! Not one away from the children, but just one away from the daily grind of reality. Let's just say I've had my fill of daily loads of laundry, washing dishes and just trying to "stay ahead" of the tidal wave of housework! I'd love to take a trip to Disney World for a whole week and just really enjoy ourselves.

I am pleased to announce that my new product, "How to Plan a Highly Successful Scrapbook Crop" is now ONLINE!! After staying up WAY past my bedtime and it still not being done, to finally getting it all on the net after ironing out a few "bugs and glitches", I am so glad it's finished!

Pet lovin' scrappers unite!

Our family has been living in sort of a zoo lately...and I'm not even talking about the 4 children!! Our family has grown to include a hound mix puppy named Trooper (who weighs in at 50 pounds of solid muscle!), an 8 week old kitten named Sambo, and a mouse named Minnie!

Trooper is our first dog and it's like having another toddler in the house! He's really a very sweet dog and great with the kids. I know we will love having him be a part of our family for years to come...we just need to work on some obedience training for now.

With our mini zoo in mind, I found this website for scrappers who love their pets. It's VIPetScrappers.com and they have a kit just for pet lovers. The site is small, but they do offer a discount.

Well, I am going to keep it short today. I have been working feverishly trying to get my new audio ready for release next week. I can't remember if I told you what it's about! Want to know?

What a week!!

You know, I have gotten SO used to my computer and phone that it is HARD to live without them! Well, I got a taste of life without the "extras" for about a week when our house got a major surge of electricity when a lightning bolt struck somewhere very close to our house! Our main computer got fried...there was smoke coming out the back...and our phone lines got cooked too!

The kicker is that all my photos were on that computer and I don't know if we can get them! Guess that's the bummer about going digital. I just never thought it would happen and I never got hard copies of about 7 months of photos! UGH!

This leads me to my "Question of the Week" for this week. How long after you take your photos do you actually turn them into a hard copy? This goes for 35mm and digital scrappers because I know many of us keep undeveloped rolls of film around for AGES before we make a point of getting them developed!

So, let me know I am not alone, ok? :o)

You know how you never expect it to take as long to unpack and get settled as it ends up taking, right?? Well, it has proven to be true in so many ways for our family! Take moving and add two trips, broken washer and dryer and 4 kids and you get the picture! Thankfully, all the travels are done (for now, anyway!) and we're starting to hang pictures on the walls and actually have a place for almost everything!

One of the big things I have yet to tackle is my scrapbook space. I have taken over our computer armoire and I think it is going to work very well for me! It's deep enough and just might have enough space for all my goodies! I can hardly wait until I have time to sit down and USE it and even just get it all organized. Funny how organizing scrapbook stuff can actually be fun, but organizing a coat closet is a chore!

Well, with October just around the corner, I thought I would share a few "Fall" ideas with you. I love taking interesting photos to use as accents in my layouts. Why not take a photo of the inside of a pumpkin before you carve it out? Or snap a shot of the seeds that you roasted?

A neat perspective on the changing leaves might be to take a photo under a tree looking up. I think this would be great for a child's layout of them looking at a tree.

Fall is apple season, too! You could make a mini album with all the yummy recipes you make from apples! This kind of album also makes a great gift for a new bride who would love to have a bunch of family recipes.

From South of Mickey's Home...

Well, in spite of all the boxes in our home, we left to visit family in South FL...right after Ernesto gave them a TON of rain! And you know, for being the "Sunshine State" we sure have seen our fair share of rain...everyday of our trip! That's ok though. The girls and their daddy managed to have a blast at a local county water park and basically had it all to themselves because everyone else is in school!

Now, a while back I told you I got the Memory Mixer software from Lasting Impressions and told you I would write a review once I had a chance to play with it. I have to tell you that my mind has been spinning with all the possibilities of this software!

First of all, I LOVE the variety and selection of digital embellishments that come with the program. You have the option to buy more, but it sure would take a while to go through everything they already have loaded into the program. One nice thing is that you can stretch and turn the embellishments without the image getting distorted. VERY impressive!

Now, the things that really got my creative juices flowing have to do with the special options like adding movies and music. Imagine having a digital prom album for your daughter that includes the prom theme song!! Or a wedding album with photos of the bride and groom taking their first dance WITH the music of the song playing in the background! Or, better yet, include a video of them dancing from the wedding! Is this AWESOME or what??

I think the thing about this program is that it is very obvious that the designers either did a TON of research on scrapbooking or they're scrapbookers themselves. I did two pages with photos of my three year old in just a few minutes...much less time that it would have taken me to get all my scrapbook gear out, find the photos, coordinate all the embellishments, and put the page together.

Am I going to stop scrapbooking the traditional way now? Not likely, but I will definitely be doing much more videos now that I have a great way to incorporate them into a form I might actually use!

So...I give the Memory Mixer (full version) software a hearty 2 Thumbs Up, WAY UP!! This was my first attempt at digital scrapbooking and I must say it is GREAT for a beginner, but has enough "extras" to please a more advanced user. You have GOT to check it out.

Ok, enough about that. I guess I get a little chatty when I haven't posted in 2 weeks! My question of the week has to do with vacations. I wanted to know if you have ever taken a scrapbook vacation. Have you ever gone on one of those scrapbooking cruises? What about those retreats that seem so wonderful? Let us all know what you've done and give us some pointers!

Sorry it's been so long, but...

We're in the midst of getting settled and we just got our internet working! We had to get satellite interenet since Embarq failed to tell us the truth about not being able to service us in our very RURAL property. How rural are we? Well, if you imagine the boondocks (or the "sticks", depending on where you're from!) and we live further out than that! It takes us about 15 minutes driving on 2 lane country roads to get to Walmart, but once we get to town, there's plenty of everything...even a Chick-fil-A, my favorite fast food stop! Yummy!

Country life sure is different! We have been eating lots of great homemade desserts made by my mother-in-law with fruit from our "mini-farm" and our girls barely complain about all the bug bites they're getting playing on the 1+ acres of cleared land we now own.

Cell service? Forget about it! We're lucky to get 1 bar! We just got long distance service straightened out yesterday and we STILL are living on the bare necessities of furniture while we wait for the movers to bring the rest of our stuff!

But, I do have all my scrapbook supplies and have already made plans to make a "Before and After" album for all the progress we've made. My in-laws have been a TREMENDOUS help painting, securing shelves, tearing out half-walls and watching the children.

So, my question is regarding "Before and After" albums or pages! I would love to know what you did, how you documented it and what types of embellishments you used. You can even email me a photo if you like!

Next week, I probably won't be writing again because I will be buried in boxes, but I will TRY to sneak away and post!

We've finally arrived in North Carolina and it's not only VERY green, but it is also VERY HUMID!! You forget how sticky the air can be when you're in a place as dry as San Antonio is! After four days driving with 4 children, a BIG utility trailer and a car top carrier on a minivan, we made it!

As we travelled, I lamented not having made a scrapbook to document the 10 years of miitary service my husband has had. I am not exactly sure why...it just was "life" and I am only beginning to realize how different it was than most other families we know.

Then the idea dawned on me to create an album that has pages that sum up years instead of every little event. This will be MUCH less daunting of a task and one I think I might actually be able to complete!

This leads to my question of the week and probably applies more to those who have lived longer and fuller lives and just recently began to scrapbook. I want to know how you have tackled years and years of photos and memories in your scrapbooking. Do you do just special events like birthdays and holidays or summarize an entire year on just a one or two page layout?

With digital photography, this would be much easier, but I have photos going all the way back to our honeymoon 10 years ago that are just waiting for me to scrapbook them! I've also toyed with doing a simplified scrapbook using one of those photo albums where you just slip the photos into the sleeves, but using some sleeves to include a small journaling block. Do let me know if you've tried this and if it went well for you!

Oh, I almost forgot! For an early birthday present (my birthday is Sunday! YIKES!) I got the Memory Mixer software for digital photos. With all the moving, I haven't had time to check it out yet, but it sure looks fun! One feature I think I will really like is that you can incorporate videos into your pages! This is wonderful and solves the problem I have had with integrating our home videos into a format that will be viewed more! I will post a detailed review once I have had a chance to play!

Shopping for scrapbook supplies on eBay? From time to time I actually have listed some items that I haven't used or no longer need. You'd be amazed at some of the great bargains to be found there. There is a lot to sift through, so I thought I would share a gift that can make bargain hunting MUCH easier!

It's called The Auction Search and it was created by one of eBay's first Platinum sellers (you know, a BIG wig!) and is such a gem, I can't believe he's letting me give this to you for nothing. Now, along these lines, I want to pose my question of the week! If you're an avid shopper on eBay, I want to know what you like to buy there. For example, I bought, just this morning, a fun card making template. It was such a steal at under $4 WITH shipping! Ebay is THE online shopping place with just about anything you can think of. You can get great deals, especially using the Auction Search tool to find items that have just been listed with "Buy It Now" or items that are about to end.

Well, my question of the week is a little "off." What I mean is "off the page"...the scrapbook page! What types of altered projects do you like to do? I have done altered canvases (and LOVED them!), altered clipboards, altered composition books, paper bag albums and more. The other day, on a trip to Garden Ridge (a local craft/home decor store) I found some NEATO monograms I am going to decorate for my girls. They are by ProvoCraft and are about 8 inches tall. I can hardly keep typing because I want to go get started on them!

So...how do you "alter" your projects? Inquiring minds want to know! ;o)

What would you do if...

...you had a whole weekend to scrapbook?? Yes, I am starting off with my question of the week today! I'm just wondering what type of scrapper you are. If you had a whole weekend to scrap, would you rather go "solo" or with a friend or maybe a whole bunch of friends?

Would you concentrate on a specific theme and do a whole album (or two or three??) or just continue scrapbooking the day to day photos in your stash? Would you try out some new techniques?

I got to thinking about this and am pretty sure I'd rather scrap alone. Yes, I am a bit of a "loner" and really enjoy having some quiet times all by myself. With 4 children under 8, I rarely get a quiet moment alone. Even when I took my shower last night, I had to have the baby in the bathroom with me so she wouldn't wake the rest of the family!

As for what I would do alone, I would just bang through the regular photos in my stash, but would really take the time to try techniques I wouldn't normally do. Like, I enjoy using the acrylic glaze stuff (can't think of the name right now!) that makes things look wet! Love that! I'd also probably use my Sizzix more and my printer.

I got an email today on a totally non-scrapbook related topic and found an amazing software program you can download online that won't co$t you a thing!!! The website is http://ambientdesign.com/ and is available in Windows AND Mac! Not too often you see something available for Mac users!

Basically it is a program you load onto your computer that allows you to paint! It even has a tracing feature where you can upload an image to trace. I have only just begun to play with it, but it looks really neat!

Now, thank Heather for the inspiration for this week's Question of the Week. Last week in her comment, she asked if anyone has some scrap tools you don't use so much. For me, it's also my Sizzix because I haven't got a great place to store them so they are readily available. I hope to change that VERY soon! Another is the glazing stuff...the tube that you can use to make things look wet or like acrylic. I really liked it when I first tried it at a crop, but I never remember I have it when I am scrapping.

So, share your least used tools! Maybe we could hold a scrap-tools swap?? Give me your feedback and I will see what I can do!
